The new seekers – I’d like to teach the World to sing reached number one on the 8th january 1972 and stayed for 4 weeks.
The New Seekers was formed after The Seekers broke up by Keith Potger. The band consisted of Eve Graham, Lyn Paul, Peter Doyle, Marty Kristian and Paul Layton. The girls had previously been in a unsuccessful group called ‘ Nocturnes ‘ before Potger formed the New Seekers.
‘ I’d like to teach the World to sing ‘ was the groups third hit and the group went on the sing ‘ Beg, Steal or Borrow ‘ in the 1972 eurovision song contest.
